Fresh From The Flower Studio: June’s Favourite Flowers

June 9, 2026

There’s a point every June when the flower buckets seem to take on a life of their own. Peonies begin to open, summer flowers start arriving in abundance and every delivery brings something new that catches our eye. These are the flowers, plants and seasonal favourites our florists have been enjoying most in our Marlow and Bourne End shops this month.

Peonies…..While We Still Can

If you’ve visited either of our shops recently, you’ll know peonies have been stealing the spotlight.

For a few short weeks each year, these much-loved flowers arrive in abundance before disappearing again until next spring. We love watching them transform from tight buds into generous, cloud-like blooms over a few days at home.

Whether added to a bouquet or enjoyed in a vase on their own, peonies remain one of June’s most requested flowers for good reason. Their short season means we make the most of them while they’re here, which is why you’ll find them featured throughout our Summer Collection, from florist-made bouquets to stems ready to arrange at home.

Hydrangeas Taking Centre Stage

While peonies often steal the headlines in June, hydrangeas have quietly become one of the flowers we’re reaching for most on the workbench. Their generous heads, soft colouring and natural presence make them a favourite for both bouquets and flowers for the home.

Whether displayed on their own in a simple vase or combined with seasonal flowers and fresh foliage, hydrangeas bring instant impact. We’ve particularly enjoyed working with the beautiful blue varieties arriving this month, which seem perfectly suited to relaxed summer arrangements and garden-inspired bouquets.

Flowers For The Home

Not every bunch of flowers needs a special occasion.

Some of our favourite orders are the ones marked simply “for me”.

Over the past few weeks we’ve noticed more customers choosing flowers for dining tables, kitchen islands, hallways and home offices. A few fresh stems can completely change how a room feels, particularly during the summer months when homes are open to gardens and natural light.

Whether it’s a vase of peonies on the kitchen table or one of our florist-made Summer Bouquets brightening a hallway, fresh flowers have a way of bringing colour and character to everyday spaces. It’s one of the reasons so many of our customers make flowers part of their weekly routine rather than saving them for special occasions. Looking for an easy way to enjoy summer flowers at home? The Plants Everyone Stops To Look At

Our Summer Plant area is looking particularly colourful this month, with summer mixed planters, flowering plants, orchids and leafy house plants all proving popular with customers looking for a lasting gift or something special for their home.

Every plant and planter is hand selected by our florists, and many of our seasonal arrangements are planted in-house before leaving our shops. From vibrant summer planters for patios and doorsteps to elegant orchids and easy-care house plants. Each one is chosen for its quality, character and seasonal appeal.

It’s one of the reasons plants have become such a popular choice for Birthdays, New Homes, Thank You Gifts and those occasions when flowers aren’t quite the right fit.

Summer Bouquets Full Of Character

One of the things we enjoy most about working with flowers is seeing the seasons change through the flower buckets.

June brings a different feel to the workbench. The colours become brighter, the textures a little looser and the flowers seem to have a natural energy of their own. Fresh foliage, delicate details and seasonal favourites all find their way into the bouquets we make each day.

No two deliveries from market are quite the same and that’s part of the appeal. We work with what’s looking at its best, selecting flowers that have caught our eye that week and combining them into arrangements full of colour, texture and character.

If you’re looking to send a gift or simply brighten your own home, our Summer Flowers Collection showcases some of our favourite seasonal bouquets and arrangements available this month.

Flowers Sent For The Moments That Matter

Alongside celebrations, birthdays and summer gatherings, we also help customers send flowers during life’s more difficult moments.

Choosing flowers to express sympathy is never easy, and many customers come to us looking for something simple, personal and heartfelt. Our Sympathy Flowers Collection has been created with this in mind, featuring elegant bouquets and arrangements designed to offer comfort and support when words are hard to find.

Every bouquet is made by hand in our Marlow and Bourne End flower shops, and our florists are always happy to help guide customers who are unsure what to send.

What’s In The Studio This Month?

If there has been one flower stealing attention in our shops this month, it’s undoubtedly the peony. Every year we tell ourselves we’ll grow tired of them, and every year we find ourselves stopping to admire another bucket as the buds begin to unfurl.

Alongside peonies, we’ve seen customers filling their homes with seasonal bouquets, picking up plants for garden tables and doorsteps. Treating themselves to flowers simply because they happened to walk past something they loved.

That’s one of the things we enjoy most about being an independent florist. The flowers arriving each week are always changing, customer favourites shift with the seasons. There’s usually something new on the workbench that has everyone talking.

The flowers on display today won’t be exactly the same as the flowers you’ll find next week, and that’s part of what we love about working with seasonal flowers. If you’re passing through Marlow or Bourne End, do pop in and see what’s arrived this week.

If you’re not quite sure what to choose, our Best Sellers collection is a good place to start.

Frequently Asked Questions

What flowers are in season in June?

June brings some of the year’s most anticipated flowers, including peonies, roses and cottage garden favourites. June flowers include  peonies, roses, delphiniums, sweet peas, stocks, snapdragons, astrantia, alliums, nigella, cornflowers, daisies and a wide range of seasonal foliage. Many of these flowers feature in our summer bouquets and florist-made arrangements throughout the month.

Which flowers work best for the home?

Flowers with a long vase life and plenty of character work best around the home. Lisianthus, roses, alstroemeria, peonies, chrysanthemums, carnations, hydrangeas, snapdragons and seasonal foliage are all popular choices. Many customers also choose a mixed seasonal bouquet to enjoy a variety of flowers, colours and textures as they develop throughout the week.

How long do peonies last in a vase?

Peonies typically last between 5 and 10 days in a vase. To help them last longer, trim the stems, change the water regularly and keep them away from direct sunlight and heat. As they open, the blooms often increase significantly in size, making them one of the most rewarding flowers to enjoy at home.

Do you offer same-day flower delivery in Marlow and Bourne End?

Yes. Place your order before 1pm and we’ll deliver your flowers the Same Day across Marlow, Bourne End and surrounding areas. We also offer next-day delivery nationwide.

What is the difference between seasonal bouquets and Florist Choice flowers?

Our seasonal bouquets showcase flowers that are looking their best at a particular time of year. Florist Choice bouquets give our florists the freedom to select the freshest flowers in the shop and create something unique using the best stems available that day.

Why choose seasonal flowers?

Seasonal flowers often offer the best colour, character and value because they are naturally at their peak. Our florists select flowers that are looking exceptional each week, allowing us to create bouquets that reflect the changing seasons.
